Non-Scale Victories (NSVs)

A little while back, I was able to enjoy an educational moment led by a fellow coach talking about looking at non-scale victories, and the way that she spoke about it all got me really thinking. There is so much that we don’t think about when we look at weight loss and success in weight loss. We do have trouble seeing the big picture 🖼️ sometimes and focus too much on the scale & the physical.

Personally, I have had some massive non-scale physical victories that meant the absolute world to me to the point that I cried hysterically when I got there.

⚖️ finally being able to wrap a normal size towel around my body when I got out of the shower 🚿

⚖️ not being told that I may need to purchase an extra seat on an airplane ✈️ or be handed the seatbelt extender

⚖️ being able to finally fit in a regular-sized bathtub to take a bath 🛀

Now these are all tremendous in my personal weight loss of over 135 pounds but that isn’t even the really cool part at least not for me anymore.

I have become a totally different person through the process of my weight loss and experienced so many different physical non-scale victories, but also mental and emotional victories as well.

It has taken a very long time for me to truly stand behind the words that we are worth so much more than what is on the scale.

And sometimes I do falter and I start thinking about what the scale says a little too much, but that’s when my coach comes in and reminds me of everything else that I have been working on since I’ve been out of deficit on purpose for the first time in my adult life.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed by the scale, take a step back and try to see the big picture 🖼️

Try to see the other places that you have grown. ♥️

I promise you… You are so much more than the number on the scale. ⚖️
