Welcome!!

It really is wonderful to see you here. This space has been something that I have wanted to create for quite some time now.

When we look at the health industry, there are so many wonderful before and after pictures, and so many different methods to get from one to the other. But there’s also a lot of people don’t talk about and I am willing to be here with you and be vulnerable about the struggles that might come.

I’m also really happy to share, my joking, personality, and everything else that might fall in the in between.

My Story

I am currently living in New Jersey and originally from here but I left for 16 years to travel and create a family with my husband. He is the love of my life and an amazing partner.

When we met each other, I was at my heaviest weight and lowest point. We have navigated military life, college life, becoming parents, and then becoming parents of four children. Along the way, I struggled a great deal with my weight and my body image. there were occurrences that I felt a great deal of guilt ending that we would associate with weight bias, or weight stigma.

There were times I had to be fitted for a dress for a wedding and was told that the timeline would be impossible because there wasn’t enough fabric in the world. I was asked to purchase an additional seat on an airplane or to move so that the person next to me could be more comfortable not sitting next to somebody who would crowd them. Another moment when I was shopping in a store, and a sales associate, decided to let me know that I was in the wrong section and needed to go to the plus size. I have had a doctor refuse to order labs and have my thyroid checked because he felt that I was lazy because I was sleeping 14 hours a day and just needed to eat less and move more. Sadly, I could definitely continue these recounted memories for quite some time. So many of these things knocked me back down from believing that I could claim my health. It wasn’t until I moved into a home and found a community that was much more supportive of people starting out that things began to work for me.

I started off small…

  • Started seeing a therapist
  • Then going for walks every day
  • And drinking more water

That’s actually it. That’s where I began.

Those tiny steps were enough to get me to be more curious about what my body actually needed, and what it did not because I started to feel better. That feeling motivated me because it had been a very long time since I had felt that way. Little by little. Bit by bit. I started to change.

My journey, when it all came together, began in 2012.

Since that moment, I have done some really cool things that I never imagined possible. I have met people and joined an industry that never thought I would. What used to be a joke, became something that I am passionate about.

I have run several marathons and two ultra marathons.

I got my personal training certification and my masters in human performance and nutrition.

I have competed in a bodybuilding competition in both the bikini category and transformation.

And best of all… I found myself. I didn’t know who I was or what was possible for a very long time and this helped me find myself. It has also made me a better partner. A better mother. A better friend. A better human.

Thank you for taking the time to read this! I’m so appreciative that you’re here.

With lots of love,

Nik
